History Hunts

Our last club hunt for the year. A small group of club members gathered to spend two days searching huge, plowed fields for artifacts dating from ancient times to the Civil War. Weather was a mixed bag. Day one was beautiful and mild. Day 2 was sunny but below freezing with 25 MPH+ north winds all day! 2013 was a banner year for History Hunts, LLC. Our hunters scored many firsts metal detecting including: ancient gold coins, Confederate and Union Civil War relics, colonial American coins, Native American artifacts and much more. A small group gathered for a different kind of History Hunt this week: a search for Native American artifacts. Like kids in a sandbox, they scratched and scraped for three days and walked away with some amazing finds. These Native American lithics date back as far as 6,000 years and were crafted out of various local flints. PA Craig found an unbelievable 6+ inch wafer thin Tang Knife Blade in pristine condition. Things Really are Bigger in Texas! We just returned from our first Texas Ancient History Hunt and a BIG time was had by all.
