January / February Deep South Metal Detecting Outings
Earlier this year we hosted two 3-day small group metal detecting outings in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi. The weather was mild and the relic hunting was good fun. Many great discoveries were made by both groups ranging from ancient Native American artifacts to colonial to Civil War and beyond.
Pictured are some of the better finds. Some of the top items we dug up included: two Civil War accoutrement plates; old silver coins including a half dime and half reale; numerous complete Native American projectile points, celts and cooking balls; military buttons including an early artillery, Confederate Louisiana and a damaged Southern Military School; Civil War Union and Confederate bullets of different varieties; historic glass trade beads; and much more!
Hope y'all enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed digging the artifacts!
