March 2013 Hunt Yields Rare Discoveries!

We just wrapped up our last Virginia metal detecting / relic hunting tour of the Spring and it was a huge success. We had a team of 4 detectorists and in 3 days of hunting they found numerous rare and valuable items. These included both Confederate and Union Civil War buttons as well as rare silver coins dating back to the late 1700s to early 1800s. In addition to our existing sites, we were also hunting some of the new sites recently added to the History Hunts land portfolio and they did not disappoint. We also added an optional tour of Lee's Final Retreat to Appomattox with multiple museum stops and it was a great experience. Here are a few choice discoveries from this latest hunt. From left to right: Rare Civil War Confederate Infantry Button imported through the blockade from Ireland, XF 1820 Capped Bust Liberty Silver Dime, Beautifully Guilded Civil War Union Artillery Great Coat Button. These were found by three different hunters and were firsts for all three! Way to go Quinn, Tim and Scott!!!
